HD Sportster XLH 883 - Franks Forks

 

Started as a stock 2001 HD Sportster XLH 883. Wrecked last year in a rear end accident. Build was to try to keep in line with the older mentality of narrow frame chopper and functionality.

  • Obviously 4″ over 39 mm front end provided by forking by Frank

  • Rear struts provided by Builtwell to lower rear end by 4″ and convert to rigid

  • TC Bros model A tail lamp ( mounted on the other side)

  • HD tinker Bell lights removed and replaced with led markers to narrowing profile of bike.

  • Stock clutch pack replaced with Barnnett extra plate clutch pack.

  • Carburator was re-shimmed and jetted to 170.

  • Wiring harness completely deleted and re ran to illuminate uneed bulk on the handle bars. Switches were moved onto the fuse cover housing behind the battery flush mounted. (Start, turn, headlight and horn are only ones remaining on the cover everything else was completely deleted)

  • Flanders 12″ 1″ handle bars

  •  2″ fabbed tank lift

  • 5″ bent back risers reversed to clear tank on turns +12 inch on both brake and clutch cables Throttle cable is +5″ Kuryaken

  • Viper intake

  • Front fender removed

  • Rear fender cut back 7″ F

  • ender support reversed to support passenger on rear fender.

  • Sissy bar fabbed from 8′ of 1/4″ square stock and 10ga steel for side straps rigid mount to both frame and swing arm. Topper is crown piece from the sissy bar of a 04 Yamaha Vstar sissy bar Springer seat from El Rosa design Foam removed and re formed to my liking.

  • Exhaust is Vance and Hines Short shots, baffles were cut back in 1/2 inch increments until sound and desired back pressure achieved.

  • Frame painted white 4 coats primer with filler, 7 coats white, 1 coat ceramic paint white, 5 coats clear, two coats high temp engine clear coat.

  • Tins are painted a purple micro flake from original Harley Davidson black.
